Foundation Phase

Individual tuition is available for any child who wishes to study music. We have highly qualified and experienced music teachers who work closely with children, encouraging a love of music and a sense of discipline in their efforts. As children achieve various milestones they are presented at assembly time to perform for the whole school. Twice a year the school holds a music soiree where children who have achieved a level of excellence within their age group are given the opportunity to perform for parents and fellow musicians. All music students have the option to prepare for the annual music exams through Trinity Guildhall or Royal Schools.

Instruments offered:

Piano
Guitar (classical and folk/rock)
Recorder (descant, treble and tenor recorder)
Violin

Trumpet
Clarinet
Cello

In addition to private tuition, Forres has opportunities for children to experience the thrill of music in:

Class Music

All children in the Foundation Phase enjoy a weekly lesson of singing and a weekly lesson in music.

With a group introduction to playing an instrument, children are exposed to the possibility of studying music further and develop an appreciation for the various sounds and skills required to play.
