Dear Parents and Pupils
Welcome to the Forres Website.
Forres Preparatory School is an independent school focussed on providing a vibrant and relevant curriculum, designed to enhance the self esteem of every child. Nestled in the heart of Rondebosch, it boasts a long standing tradition of outstanding educational excellence and is amongst the top state and independent schools in the area.
Being head of Forres Preparatory School
On a personal level, Forres is an extension of my own lifelong interest and passion for the education of children — what better training than seeing my own 4 children through school.
As head of Forres, I wear both my "educator" and "mother" hats — which give me the advantage of having a vision for the school that balances educational principles with what parents and pupil's needs and expectations are regarding a sound education.
My philosophy is: Happy Pupils, Happy Parents, Happy School, Happy Head !
On a more serious note, my vision for the school is simple :
- A school environment and curriculum should reflect the fascinating world we live in and be presented in such a way that it is relevant to children, making them eager and motivated to learn. Boredom should have no place in education.
- Even more importantly, while educating children we honour them and uphold core values of dignity and respect without exception.
- It is my firm belief, that if we as educators place the self-esteem of children above achievement they will grow up believing in themselves and be able to take on whatever challenges the world presents.
